CREB^® Partners for Life

CREB® and its REALTOR® members have joined the Canadian Blood Services Partners For Life program committing to pledge blood, plasma and platelet donations to the Calgary community.

On Dec. 3 CREB® participated in CREB® Now: A Day of Giving kicking off the partnership and helping the downtown Calgary blood donor clinic reach 80 per cent of its daily goal. "The idea to organize CREB® Now: A Day of Giving came from a brokerage in Ontario that took over a clinic for a day," said Blair Berdusco, CREB® social media co-ordinator. "It was great to see the response from CREB® staff and with the Partners for Life Program we hope to see a good number of our 5,100-plus members donating."

According to a Canadian Blood Services report, the first five months of 2013 saw the Partners for Life program receiving 15,464 donations from its 452 partners in Alberta and the Northwest Territories.

CREB® CEO Alan Tennant has made over 100 donations to Canadian Blood Services alone with several other staff members close to reaching the same goal. Some factors listed by Canadian Blood Services causing demand include an aging population, more aggressive medical treatments, a shrinking donor base and increasing population.
