Boasting some of the world's most beautiful backdrops, Bragg Creek and Priddis offer a veritable cornucopia of mountain-view amenities for local residents.

Bragg Creek's history traces back to 1885 when the area was first homesteaded by brothers Albert and John Bragg. At first, the winters were too harsh for settlers who arrived there. Yet for those who prevailed, trade with the local Nakoda First Nations was fruitful at the original Bragg Creek Trading Post. An oil discovery in 1913 put Bragg Creek on the map. While the well was capped during the First World War to conserve supply, the area quickly became a favoured destination for city visitors and travelers from beyond.

Today, Bragg Creek maintains itself as a quaint mountain town bringing peace and quiet instead of the hustle and bustle of nearby Calgary. The town is full of delectable restaurants and amazing works by local area artists.

For thrill seekers there's hiking and biking pathways in the summer and a great cross-country ski network and nearby ski hills in the winter.

Priddis, meanwhile, was named after Charles Priddis, whose home acted as a central repository for incoming and outgoing mail. Charles Priddis was responsible for donating land for a local school as well for a hall and church. The hall still stands today; at more than 100 years old, it has been dubbed the oldest of its kind in Alberta.

A popular community with commuters, Priddis maintains its country charm under the shadow of the Rocky Mountains. It's also home to a growing number of exclusive properties, including the $38-million Kettle Lake Ranch, the most expensive property listed to date in Alberta.

Priddis Greens Golf and Country Club

Home to 800 members, the Priddis Greens Golf and Country Club was the first golf club in Alberta to be certified under the Audubon Co-operative Sanctuary System of Canada in 1998. Comprised of two courses, Hawk and Raven, the club is one of two private, 36-hole courses near Calgary. Priddis is currently offering social memberships, an opportunity to earn credit toward purchasing a full membership at the course.

Sugar Shake Bakery

Nothing can stir a memory like the scent of fresh baking. The Sugar Shake Bakery & More in Bragg Creek is no exception. Stop in for cakes for any occasion, homemade pies like Grandma makes and fresh-made buns and bread. If cool treats are more up your alley, the Sugar Shake also offers ice cream in a variety of flavours.

Creekers Restaurant Bistro

Whether you've just hiked or biked your way around one of Bragg Creek's many pathways or you've just hopped in the car from Calgary for a day trip, Creekers Bistro is one of several tasty eateries available in Bragg Creek. With its scenic highways and pathways, Bragg Creek is a mecca for cyclists from near and far.
