Island living
Foothills Home Lottery to give away $2.4-million home in MahoganyImagine living on a secluded island without ever needing to leave Calgary.
This will soon be the reality for one lucky homeowner.
This year's Foothills Hospital Home Lottery grand prize is a 5,890-square-foot custom-built estate home located in the southeast gated community of Mahogany Island valued at $2.4 million.
"As it is custom built, you will not find this exact layout, design and décor in any other home," said Nicole Janke, manager of events and lotteries with the Calgary Health Trust. "As well, it's on the water, which really gives it a relaxing feel."
The three-storey home built by Calbridge Homes includes four bedrooms, four-and-a-half bathrooms and comes with its own private dock on Mahogany Lake.
Inside, the home features large windows, rich hardwood, soft neutral furniture and accent pieces (that will be awarded with the home). Stones and tiles balance the stark whites used throughout the house.
The second floor includes a small rec room and the four bedrooms, each of which comes with its own ensuite bathroom. The master bathroom features a spacious walk-in closet that would make Carrie Bradshaw jealous, as well as an ensuite complete with a deep freestanding tub, two full vanities and a large glassed-door shower.
"The kitchen is my favourite room. It's a beautiful white and open concept."
Janke's favourite room in the entire house is on the main floor.
"The kitchen is my favourite room. It's a beautiful white and open concept," she said. "Plus, there's a huge island, which is perfect for parties and entertaining."
The kitchen features stainless-steel appliances, loads of counter spaces and cabinets and is just steps from the outdoor patio.
The main floor is also home to a fireplace-flanked dining room, large living room with lots of seating and a windowed hobby room, a perfect space for artists or bookworms.
Finally, the walkout basement comes with a cosy media room, complete with a wall-mounted big screen TV and bar, as well as a hockey rec room, which includes lockers, Flames jerseys and, of course, sticks and a net.
"Because of its open concept and lakeside living, this home is truly perfect for a family as well as couples," said Janke.
For tickets, call 1-888-541-5540 or visit online at www.foothillshospitalhomelottery.com. Tickets are also available for purchase at locations across the city. For a full list, visit the lottery's website.
All proceeds raised will go to the Foothills Medical Centre.
The show home is open to the public Wednesday to Friday from 2 to 7 p.m., weekends and holidays from noon to 5 p.m.
The grand prize could be awarded as early as May 3 if tickets sell out by the early-bird deadline.
