Belvedere brings new homes and amenities to Calgary's eastern edge

All the approvals are in place and all systems are go for the new southeast community of Belvedere, which will deliver more than 1,500 homes in the coming years.

Moez Moledina, general manager for Belvedere developer Tristar Communities, said the intention is to start stripping and grading the site by the middle of April or as soon as the weather allows.

"We're ready to go. Our plan is to service our first phase, which is about 165 lots ... to be completed by about late September, mid-October of this year," he said.

"Houses will start at that time. Once we get the servicing done and are able to get the building permits, I would say housing will start then."

Belvedere is on Calgary's eastern edge at the intersection of 17th Avenue and 84th Street S.E., adjacent to the East Hills Shopping Centre and only 15 minutes away from downtown Calgary.

The community will hold 1,500 homes across 125 acres. The housing mix will include both starter and move-up homes, meeting the diverse social, economic and environmental needs of residents.

There is a generous allotment for parks, playgrounds, outdoor recreation facilities and natural green spaces within the community, and natural wildlife habitats will be respected and preserved. Shopping and basic services will be available within walking distance for most residents, with excellent access to transit, pathways and major roadways.

"We have a wonderful wetland on the northwest side of our site we are retaining, and we are embellishing that. We've got a lovely park on the south side of the community. It's a three-acre park and it's going to be beautifully done," said Moledina. "We've got a small community activity centre. We've got a small shopping strip. We have a school site, of course, in the community as well."

The builder group for the project will include Madison Avenue Group, Crystal Creek Homes, Minto Communities and DS Homes. The community will be built out within the next five years.
