Sales Growth Boosted By Condominium Activity
Calgary, March. 3, 2014 – Following double digit gains last month, sales growth in the city of Calgary totaled 1,854 units, or an 8.68 per cent increase over the same period in 2013. Slower sales growth resulted in a reduction of listings in the single family sector. However, single family sales still totalled 1,230 units, a 1.9 per cent increase over the previous year.
"Demand growth in the single family sector has been restricted by the availability of product," says CREB® Chief Economist Ann-Marie Lurie. "New listings in this sector fell for the second consecutive month, causing further tightening in an already undersupplied market."

The Lights Are Going Out
January 1 saw a mad dash to home improvement stores, drug stores and any business that carries incandescent light bulbs, especially the 60 and 40 watts. The mad dash led to long lines, hoarding hundreds of dollars worth of the now 'illegal' light bulbs. A black market was created, causing people to trade precious metals for this now outlawed commodity.
Ok, maybe not.

How To: Prep A Room For Painting
In theory, it seems like the most basic of home renovation projects. Able to transform a room from dreary to divine, a fresh coat of paint is a valuable tool in the DIY arsenal. However, there's far more to achieving a new look than just slapping a little Metropolis grey over that outdated perfect peach. While it's unlikely Alexander Graham Bell was referring to painting when he said, "Before anything else, preparation is the key to success", his wisdom is just as pertinent.

A New Way To Build
When thinking about the structure of a house, wood is often what comes to mind, as houses have been built using wood products for many years. BONE Structure is making waves across Canada with a new material to construct your home with.
Instead of using wood, the BONE Structure uses steel components that are manufactured in Quebec, a bag of screws and a drill. There is no need to cut any of the steel, as it comes perfectly cut to include windows and doors.
