Calgarians like their condos.

As if the number of construction cranes scattered throughout the city weren't proof enough of our city's affinity for all things condo, Calgary homebuyers were happy to provide further evidence with their purchases.

The numbers are in, and Calgary Transit set another record in 2013, by carrying a total of 107.5 million customers. From 2012 this was 5.5 million or five per cent more than the number of transit riders in 2012.

There has been a 12 per cent increase in ridership over the past three years, which is double the rate of Calgary's population growth during this period.

A two-bedroom, 1,200 sq. ft. house has seen the downtown section of Calgary evolve over many years since 1941.

The lone house at 933 5th Avenue S.W. is currently owned by the city hall's corporate properties division, and is on its way to being demolished. However, there is no date for when the house will be torn down.

Calgarians are being asked to help determine the winner of CREB®'s inaugural People's REALTOR® ROAR award. The ROAR awards are a new CREB® initiative, standing for recognizing our accomplished REALTORS®.

You wouldn't blame Calgary renters for welcoming the end of 2013.

In a year dominated by nearly non-existent vacancy rates, climbing rents and dwindling supply, would-be Calgary tenants had it rough last year. There are however, a few developments that could have renters in the city breathing a little easier.
