Alberta's Premier is following through on a promise she made to Albertan's to build and modernize schools throughout the province.
Many new schools and schools to be modernized have been announced over the past couple months in Calgary. Most recently an announcement was made by the Alberta government to build 10 more new schools and modernize one more.

Great Plains Camp Closing at End of Month
The Great Plains camp, built in October to house about 700 people displaced by the floods, will close on Jan. 31.
Demand for the camp was lower than expected, with the peak population at just over 70 people, and December saw a decrease to 45 people.

New Schools Announced for Calgary and Airdrie
Calgary's community of Aspen Woods and west Airdrie will see new schools being built.
The Aspen Woods school will benefit about 750 Kindergarten to Grade 6 Roman Catholic Separate School District students, and the Airdrie school will serve 600 Rocky View School Division Kindergarten to Grade 4 students.

Alberta Government Undercover
An undercover investigation conducted by Service Alberta has resulted in charges to seven Alberta contractors.
The investigation, which occurred between Aug. 19 and Sept. 5, saw 13 contractors in Edmonton and 11 in Calgary which resulted in seven contractors being charged with 11 counts under the Fair Trading Act. Some contractors may see administrative monetary penalties as well.

Looking at Ways to Fund Flood Resilience Projects
City of Calgary Councillors will be deciding if 2014's $52 million tax hike will be given back to Calgarians or kept to be used for mitigation projects from future floods.
One of the mitigation projects includes a $10.2 million berm upgrade to the Calgary Zoo to protect it from future floods.
Currently all proposed mitigation projects total $22.7 million, but there is a chance that more projects will arise later.
