One of Canada's most well-known and down-to-earth construction and renovation gurus, HGTV Canada's Bryan Baeumler has some savvy advice for anyone tackling a home renovation project this spring.

Renovation guru and HGTV star Bryan Baeumler is in town this weekend for the Calgary Fall Home Show, which runs from Thursday, Sept. 19 to Sunday, Sept. 22 at the BMO Centre.

As the calendar turns over, people are revving up to refine and refresh their lives and lodgings, and what better way to do just that than a home makeover?

Renovation expert and HGTV superstar Bryan Baeumler has fond memories of his first home, a small, 50-year-old bungalow that he purchased and renovated with his wife, Sarah, who is an interior designer.

"The show for every home." That's how Marketplace Events show manager Teri Salazar describes the Calgary Fall Home Show, which runs from Sept. 21 to 24 at the BMO Centre.

"It doesn't matter if you have a condo, a new build, a fixer-upper or a McMansion, if you want to do a simple update or a complete renovation overhaul, we have something in the show for everyone," she said.

There'll be some 350 exhibitors at this year's show, which Salazar says has been refocused to highlight those aspects exhibitors and attendees have been looking for, including more sources for inspiration.

"This show will be better than ever," she said.

Born in Calgary, interior designer Heather Draper spent seven years in Victoria before realizing her heart remained in Alberta.

"There's a vibrancy," she said. "Calgary resonates this positive energy that I absolutely love."

Draper will be sharing that positive energy, as well as some ins and outs of interior design, when she presents on the main stage of the Calgary Home + Design Show Sept. 18-21.

The Calgary Home + Design Show announced yesterday the return of Scots Colin McAllister and Justin Ryan of Cottage Life TV's Colin & Justin's Cabin Pressure.

"We are thrilled to have our favourite designing duo back at the Calgary Home + Design Show," said Show Manager Teri Salazar in a release. Having become synonymous with home renovations in Canada, Bryan Baeumler doesn't believe he's put in a hard day's work unless he gets his hands dirty. The award winning host of HGTV's Leave It To Bryan recently finished a cottage for his family as part of House of Bryan 2: On The Rocks, Baeumler's busy schedule will bring him to town as part of the Calgary Home + Garden Show, which takes place Feb. 27 through March 2 at the BMO Centre.
